POSITION PROFILE
This position is responsible for dispatching drivers to/from the Port of Anchorage as well as dispatching drivers for local pickup and delivery. As part of this activity this position is also responsible for equipment control of vans and other equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Operate safely and compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
Responsible for the routing, scheduling and dispatching of drivers, equipment and freight loads going out daily/nightly and reporting activities to the Operations group
Ensure that all containers are received and tripped into system
Provides excellent customer service on the phone and when arranging for pick-ups and delivers
Communicates with dispatch at various customer sites to coordinate the movement of freight
Support the safe operation of all trucks, drivers and related trucking operations
Perform administrative functions such as printing delivery receipts, manifest shipments for trailers, create freight bills, trace shipments, etc.
Support full compliance with all federal and state transportation safety regulations,
Possess fundamental knowledge of the criteria for classifications of what qualifies as a heavy haul freight.
Apply for oversize/overweight permits through the State of Alaska MSCVE website, and maintain a good working relationship with this State of Alaska Office.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications)
High school diploma or GED equivalent
One to two years of transportation / dispatch experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Sound understanding of DOT regulations, HazMat and OTR experience preferred
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Outlook and Excel
Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize and exhibit team players attitude
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
Demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy
Basic use of mathematical applications
Excellent customer service skills
Treats people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires trust in others, works with integrity and ethically; upholds organizational values.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other office related devices. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
