POSITION SUMMARY:
The HES Professional position (based in the Canton area) will lead environmental compliance efforts for a regional group of petroleum distribution terminal and pipeline facilities as well as the garages for tank trucks in this region. As a member of the Terminals HES&S team, the Environmental Professional provides technical guidance on regulatory programs including air, water, and waste. The Environmental Professional teams with operations personnel to ensure compliant practices. Some duties include conducting environmental audits, providing training on environmental-related topics, evaluating project and maintenance activities, obtaining and maintaining operating permits, interacting with regulatory agencies, and participating in emergency preparedness.
In addition to the role as a HES Professional, this individual will be expected to provide organization wide support through air permitting and other collaborative efforts to ensure compliance while driving operational flexibility and evaluating opportunities to reduce cost.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for working closely with operating personnel to provide routine environmental support services.
Become a Federal, Ohio, and Pennsylvania air permitting expert.
Drive organizational change through improved compliance programs and reduced cost structure
Responsible for learning and understanding environmental regulations and corporate programs and developing internal compliance procedures with the support of operations.
Prepare air emissions, water discharge, and stormwater discharge permit applications; permit negotiations; compliance monitoring and preparation of reports as well as emergency notifications.
Provide environmental guidance and expertise on project related activities.
Participate in environmental audits. Must work closely with management and operating personnel to resolve audit issues to enhance compliance.
Prepare, or assist engineering, in creating and maintaining environmental plans/procedures: (i.e. Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, Stormwater Protection Plans, Groundwater Protection Plans, etc.).
Provide training to operating personnel on environmental topics and procedures.
Provide environmental support during emergency response situations. Will be on call to provide emergency reporting/support services.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical track (Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, etc.) preferred.
5 or more years of relevant work experience preferred.
40% travel (including some overnight travel).
