Position : Manager, Financial Counseling & Self Pay Accounts Receivable
Job Description : Responsibilities
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the day-to-day operations of assigned patient financial services departments, including cashiering, self pay billing and accounts receivable (AR) management, unidentified third party liability (TPL), billing customer service, and financial counseling.Optimizes performance of patient accounts receivables and develops processes required to meet various strategic, business initiatives of The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS).Responsible for maintenance and integrity of The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) and North Hawai`i Community Hospital (NHCH) patient accounts and functions involved in account resolution, including but not limited to coordination and prioritization of issues with third party payors; preparation of reports for internal analysis, payor meetings, and other business needs; and collaboration with other departments to drive efficiencies.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Essential: standing, sitting, walking, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting, pushing/pulling and carrying usual weight of 5 pounds up to 25 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.Frequent: walking.Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax and printer.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health care or related field; or four (4) years progressive experience in business services in a comparable health care setting may be substituted for educational requirement.Master’s degree in business administration or related health care and/or professional field preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the educational requirement, five (5) years experience with third party medical billing, preferably in a comparable organization.Two (2) years supervisory/leadership experience.Knowledge of medical terminology, federal/state medical assistance programs, and insurance company requisites and claims filing procedures.Solid understanding of all Revenue Cycle operations including Revenue Integrity, Managed Care Contracting, Patient Access, Health Information Management and Patient Accounting functions.
