Job Description : The City of Cheney Police Department seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Dispatcher. The Police Dispatcher position is skilled emergency service work that involves receiving emergency 9-1-1 and nonemergency requests for police assistance, determining the nature and urgency of calls, initiating police or other emergency personnel action, and maintaining close contact with field units to monitor response and needed support requirements. The position also requires clerical work. The successful candidate will attend an 8-week training session, for 40 hours per week, and will experience all shifts. The ability to work variable shifts is required.
