Basic Purpose
Basic Purpose

To plan, manage, and execute all aspects of life-cycle projects from inception through implementation. To develop project plans and deliver solutions on schedule and within budget in support of service innovations and organizational and process changes/enhancements.

Responsibilities

Ensures effective management of projects from inception through implementationDefines, develops and executes project plans, including scope definition, expectations, activities, cost estimates, and schedulesWorks with the business group to determine and understand business requirementsManages projects from concept through the planning, analysis, design, testing, implementation, and transition phasesDevelops clear and concise “big picture” of projects within Navy Federal organizational goalsDirects and leads Project Teams by developing and coordinating work plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, and trainingManages project budgets including risk and impact of changes to project plansIdentifies and minimizes project risks or constraints that would impact project deliverablesIdentifies, communicates, and resolves branch/division/department areas of concern, or cross-organizational that may impede or impact other projects/initiativesMaintains/archives project documentationEnsures project deliverables are met in accordance with customers’ expectationsSets, manages, and communicates client expectations for the projectOversees project progress to ensure project documentation and schedules are in compliance with previously agreed requirements and standardsIdentifies, escalates and/or resolves issues associated with project(s) ensuring deliverables conform to established quality and schedulesMonitors and controls risks to ensure timelines are met and project goals are attainedFacilitates project team and client meetings for the resolution of project issuesProvides project status reports to managementEnsures success of projects by working closely with Procurement regarding vendor contractsWorks closely with Procurement to clearly define and understand contracts, including language, scope, pre- and post-award, contract closure, basic legal aspects, and risk managementManages contracts’ quality assurance, including contract administration and executionManages contract budget, cost control mechanisms and Change controlServes as primary point of contact for project management and related issues.Secures resources and ensures optimum utilization of those resources, meeting budgetary requirementsAllocates project team assignments to ensure accountability, establishes a team environment, manages personnel changes, and executes the training planManages, executes, and communicates project plan, changes, direction, approach, and priorities based on changing business requirements, circumstances, new information and/or budget considerations to stakeholdersEstablishes team objectives and assignments, reviews work products, and provides timely feedback to staff regarding performance; may provide input to team members’ performance appraisalsPromotes team building and skills development of project team membersManages multiple, large, and highly complex projectsParticipates in developing, modifying and executing department policies, standards, and processesProvides guidance on issues having department and/or organization-wide impactWorks on complex issues requiring in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives and competing prioritiesSolves highly technical and complex problemsNegotiates with or influences division/department management to facilitate project resolution within timelines and budget constraintsManages relationships with vendors, participates in contact negotiations, oversees contract quality assurance, budget, and cost mechanismsPerforms other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, or experienceExtensive project management experience overseeing multiple, large complex projectsAdvanced knowledge of project lifecycles, project management methodologies, and business requirements analysisDemonstrated skill directing and controlling project activities of a broad functional areaExpertise developing and managing relationships across business units and the organizationExtensive experience in leading, guiding, and mentoring others in a constantly changing and challenging environmentStrong understanding of contact and their impact on projectsExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsDemonstrated skill in producing desired results and achieving goals and objectivesProficiency with PCs and related software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and project management applications)PMP Certification (or commensurate experience managing corporate-wide projects)

Desired Qualifications

Advanced Degree in Business, Management, Economics, Finance, or related fieldKnowledge of Navy Federal’s, or other financial institutions’, operationsWorking knowledge of Navy Federal’s Project Portfolio Management (PPM) standardsExtensive experience managing multi-disciplinary project lifecycles for financial institutionsAct as a subject matter expert with a focus on Technology & Cyber Risk Management workstreams and practicesImplement and lead users to comply with best practices to ensure timely and effective program delivery and administrationServe as coach/mentor to lower level staff and resolve issuesMonitor the activity and evaluate the Technology & Cyber Risk program to identify opportunities to improve and enhance current and future processesThe ability to independently manage simultaneous programs and projects in a fast-paced environment and build productive relationships with management and project teams is essentialApply expert knowledge of best practices, trends, standards, requirements, and developments in content distribution technologies to formulate innovative ways to support Risk ManagementWork on complex issues requiring in-depth knowledge of Risk Management practices

Due to COVID-19 and social distancing, this position may require working from home temporarily with plans to return to campus at the location listed once Navy Federal is back to normal operations. The specific logistics for returning to campus will be determined at a future date by individual leadership.

Salary: Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position. The salary range for this position is: $83,100 – $142,000 annually.
