The Department of Family Services administers a wide variety of programs and services that assist children, youth, families, individuals with disabilities, and older adults with basic supports and medical needs as well as services to protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. All services are delivered under state and federal mandates or under local initiatives that seek to improve family stability, help families achieve safe and affordable housing, and increase self-sufficiency.
Job Description
The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is currently seeking qualified candidates who are looking to work in a diverse, exciting, and fast paced work environment and have a desire to help others. This position is responsible for determining eligibility for Public Assistance Programs, to include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid by conducting interviews with applicants, requesting appropriate documentation, and applying applicable policy. This position is also responsible for taking timely action on reported changes and completing thorough case documentation.

Demonstrate the ability to process applications and case reviews accurately and timely by interpreting and applying complex federal, state and local public assistance policies
Demonstrate the ability to make mathematical computations accurately
Are comfortable with using automated technology to establish and maintain case records
Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple deadlines, computer systems, high volume of client contact, high caseloads, and competing priorities
Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers and other social service providers
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with people under stress and those from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
Have exceptional oral and written communication skills, and carry out their role in a professional manner
Are able to schedule, organize and manage workload sufficient to meet deadlines
Function well in a team environment
Respond quickly and effectively to customer inquiries to resolve issues, answer questions, and handle any emergency situations that may arise.
Hiring Range: $46,488.83-$62,759.92 Salary commensurate with experience.
Job Requirements
Requires an associate degree and three (3) years of directly related experience in a customer service or social/human services setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possess valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED:
Experience determining eligibility for SNAP and Medicaid applications.
Experience managing a SNAP and Medicaid caseload.
Fluency in Spanish.
Special Requirements
This position may be assigned and required to work at an alternate work site(s) to carry out duties that support the needs of the County.
In addition, you must be available for duty beyond the normal workday (8:30am ? 5:00pm), which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, as required to perform functions of the position for the assigned department.
The successful candidate may be required to perform work that involves crisis situations and is required to make decisions involving people, resources, and property.
This position has limited telework opportunity after successful evaluation of performance.
