Peraton Corporation is seeking a Spanish Translator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in transforming the future public health. This position will become part of Peraton’s team that supports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The qualified applicant will be responsible for translating from English into Spanish a variety of significant publications, internet web pages, graphics, guides and other products produced by the CDC and distributed via the internet and other multimedia channels.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Independently translates into Spanish a variety of publications, internet web pages, graphics, videos and other products as produced by the CDC.
Certifies that all assigned products are ready for publication and/or release to the public.
Edits and revises translations as appropriate to ensure maximum clarity and appropriate reading levels, grammar and spelling.
Ensures that all final products meet all approved language standards and are culturally relevant.
Performs quality control checks on all work products to ensure final product meets or exceeds the Customer’s standards.
Provides leadership in solving complex translation challenges.
Provides guidance and make recommendations to the customer in terms of proper translation terminology and language standards that should be used in translation process.
Responsible for working with various organizations within CDC to provide recommendations on what translations are more appropriate for the target audience.
Perform linguistics and subject area research to stay abreast of constant changes in vocabularies in different areas of expertise in Spanish.
As required, periodically review and update Translation Memories and Glossaries.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Translation (English to Spanish), with a minimum of 5 years of experience or ATA certification or equivalent and 3-5 years of continuous translation experience.
Must have ATA Certification
Native fluency: able to speak, read, and write with superior proficiency in Spanish.
Proficient in using SDL Studio (TRADOS) and Multiterm (2019 at least) Translation Software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent command of the English language, with the ability to produce clear and concise oral and written communications in Spanish ensuring that the translated content reflects the same intent and meaning as the original material.
Experience in translating into Spanish a variety of publications, internet web pages, graphics, videos, etc. and ability to navigate differences among the many local varieties of Spanish.
Experience editing translations to ensure clarity and reading level.
Ability to translate, edit, and proofread complex scientific and technical information.
Experience in the health/public health fields.
Ability to respond effectively to changing events and competing priorities.
Must be able to work independently, perform as a self-starter and meet critical deadlines.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, while possessing proven collaborative skills with working effectively in a diverse team environment.
Must be comfortable working in a virtual environment and have at least basic experience troubleshooting connectivity issues.
Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of plain language principles
Experience with CDC and/or other U.S. federal agencies Colorado Salary Minimum: $55,307.20
Colorado Salary Maximum: $118,227.20
