Job Description : We are a small sea kayak outfit known as Pangaea Adventures, which is based in Valdez, Alaska, where we also offer camping, whitewater rafting, and extended multi-sport trips. We are looking for positive, hard-working, team-oriented individuals who would like to spend summers, working a fun, rewarding job as a lead class III whitewater rafting/sea kayaking guide with cool people in a beautiful place. Our guides lead small groups of people on sea kayak tours in tidewater glacier zones and throughout the bafflingly pretty area of Prince William Sound surrounding Valdez, as well as rafting trips down the nearby dramatic Keystone Canyon of the Lowe River. Our main goal is to have these outings be lead safely and informatively. We do require that all guides have their Wilderness First Responder, Swift Water Rescue and/or raft guiding certs. We are also looking for these guides to possess solid judgment, sound common sense, and good people skills. The dates of employment run 5/10-9/15 and busy, full-season guides can gross $8K-$10k across the course of the season (that’s before taxes and after tips!). Living is provided in a choice, rustic spot on the edge of town, within a quick bike ride from our office, which is right on the harbor. The only expenses guides should have to worry about are getting to and from Valdez, food, and whatever entertainment they get into.
