Job Description : Job Description Job title: Agriculture Program SpecialistLocation: Anchorage, Alaska – Travel PossibleTerms: Full Time, Non-exemptSalary/Rate: DOERequirements: Agriculture: gardening, farming (small scales and hobby), ranching, food systems, and/or mariculture and fisheries knowledge. Occasional rural travel. Technical writing, grant writing, or business planning assistance experience is required. Preferred: Knowledge of rural Alaska’s environment, previous experience working with tribes, regional non-profits, or other Alaska-focused organizations.About us: AVI provides services to socially disadvantaged Alaska Native farmers/ranchers/gardeners, other agriculture producers, and food systems organizations.We provide grant and other training for tribal conservation districts,Rural Alaska organizations staff and boards, and tribal governments.We assist in the development of business and technical plans for our stakeholders for agriculture or conservation businesses.About the role: The agriculture specialist works with the agriculture program conducting research, coordinating partnerships, and planning of agribusiness, food security, and conservation projects in ruralAlaska. They are involved in food, fiber, gardening/farming/ranching project design, and other projects.Providing guidance to rural Alaska communities, tribes, and organizations on a variety of agriculture projects including planning gardens, farming/ranching projects, and assisting with determining the health of the environment for agriculture and conservation projects in rural Alaska.Basic knowledge of agriculture and conservation required. Must be able to coordinate meetings, reports, and recording of accurate data.
