JOB SUMMARY
The ASAP Analyst is responsible for assisting the ASAP Manager in the administration of the Aviation Safety Action Partnership (ASAP) Program in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This includes, but is not limited to, analyzing and detecting safety of flight issues within the ASAP data, creation and distribution of information from ASAP to SWA Flight crews, Flight Training, Leadership, and required government entities.
RESPONSIBILITIES Review Safety-sensitive ASAP reports on a daily basis Review previously submitted reports for comparison to identify systemic issues Review internal databases (e.g. SOPI, other ASAP programs) for common reporting of events Review data from external databases (e.g. ATSAP, NASA, and DNAA) for common reporting of events Write a weekly Departmental summary of ASAP events discussed by the Event Review Team (ERT) Assist in event categorization in accordance with Threat and Error management concepts Assist in risk assessment of events to identify risk to the operation Provide documentation data from Company-supplied and outside sources to assist ASAP Manager in research of each event report Transcribe Air Traffic Control (ATC) tapes Assist in development and tracking of recommendations made by the ERT Assist in coordination of recommendations made by the ERT with applicable departments within Southwest Airlines Assist in coordination of research with outside agencies, e.g. ATC, FAA Assist in preparation of presentation for Flight Operations Senior Leadership Attend weekly ERT meetings Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be a detail oriented individual Extensive database and analysis tool skills required Technical writing and communication skills required Must have strong research skills Must be organized and articulate Must have a sound understanding of commercial airline operations Must understand current Flight Operations organizations, operations, philosophies, and procedures Well versed in Human Factors and CRM concepts with strong interpersonal skills

EDUCATION Required: High School Diploma or GED Required: Bachelor’s Degree – Human Factors, Safety, Aeronautics, or equivalent
EXPERIENCE Required: Extensive database and analysis tool experience Required: Technical writing and communication experience Required: Understanding of commercial airline operations; specifically Flight Ops Preferred: Experience in Human Factors or Safety
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Preferred: Pilot or Dispatcher License
