Job Description : ASSISTANT WEDDING COORDINATORPosition OverviewThis position’s primary focus is to assist our lead wedding planners with the execution of our clients’ wedding days.Our ideal candidate is, first and foremost, committed to a culture of inclusion, equity, and anti-racism. Assistant wedding coordinators need to work with minimal supervision and be able to really own the job – not just doing as instructed, but actively looking for what else needs to be done and taking the initiative to make it happen.Wedding days are physically demanding and typically involve significant, continuous time on our feet as well as some lifting and schlepping – mostly small, light decor items but occasionally larger items, like tables and chairs. That being said, ableism can suck it – so if you can do this job with reasonable accommodations, let’s talk about what you’d need in order to make it work.This role is very part-time, somewhat seasonal, and always on-site. Reliable transportation is a must; many job sites are not accessible by public transit. Weekend and evening hours are essential. Shifts typically begin in the early afternoon and end between 11:00 pm – 1:00 am.Wedding day assistants report to the business owner and the lead wedding planner on-site, while also working closely with other members of the planning team as well as outside vendors, venues, clients, and guests.Successful assistants have room to grow into lead wedding managers and, eventually, wedding planners working directly with their own clients, if desired.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssistant Wedding Coordinator will assist the Lead Wedding Manager with the following wedding day tasks:Set up clients’ small decor items, such as place cards, guest book and gift tables, table numbers, etc. according to event plansWork to keep all events, participants, and vendors on schedule throughout the day, to include communicating directly with clients, guests, and vendors in a polite, diplomatic, and firm-if-required mannerAssist with lining up and cueing entrances for wedding ceremoniesAddress needs of individual guests, wedding party members, and clientsCollect and gather clients’ small decor items as well as other items, such as centerpieces, gifts, and leftover programs, favors, etc. at the conclusion of the eventBe prepared to meet any emergency situation that may arise, from the very smallest event “catastrophes” such as needing an extra place setting at table 9 or a scissors to cut the tag off a bridesmaid dress to true emergencies that require quick action and potentially contacting and directing first responders. Upon successful completion of training and determination by both Aisle Less Traveled and the assistant wedding coordinator that the job is a good match, pay will be increased to at least $25 per hour and reviewed on an annual basis thereafter.All Aisle Less Traveled employees are eligible for paid time off (PTO), including paid sick leave in accordance with Washington state law, after thirty days of employment.
