Job Summary
Office of Admissions. The Associate Director of New Student and Family Programs provides leadership, advocacy, and coordination of all new undergraduate orientation and transition programming and undergraduate family/supporter programming and communications for all campuses of Georgia Southern University, aligning with the university strategic plan and values.
Responsibilities
Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
Represent orientation and transition programs and family/supporter programs at Admissions recruitment and yield events, both on and off-campus
Create and analyze regular assessments of programming to best serve students and families
Serve on the Admissions leadership team to implement the University’s strategic enrollment management plan for new undergraduate students and lead departmental initiatives
Provide effective budget management, overseeing multiple complex budgets including revenue-generating accounts
Develop, implement and assess all undergraduate student orientation and transition programs for all new undergraduate students, including in-person and virtual (synchronous and asynchronous) events, across three campus locations and for fully online programs. Programming includes enrollment-focused “SOAR” sessions as well as the University’s holistic transition initiative, “The Eagle Experience”
Hire, support, train, supervise: two program coordinators, two student orientation teams, one administrative assistant, summer graduate interns, graduate assistants, and multiple student staff
Develop, maintain and assess online pre-orientation programs for multiple student and support populations (Advantage) and manage online orientation reservation systems (VisualZen, Slate)
Manage an orientation and transition communication plan including the development of websites, publications, online materials, and emails
Collaborate closely with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, especially Academic Advising, for orientation and transition programming development, implementation, and assessment
Plan and implement family programming to serve needs of student families and supporters on three campuses (i.e., family weekends, off-campus social events, virtual programming)
Advise the Parent and Family Association and Council, the dues-paying family organization
Manage a family/supporter communication plan including the development of websites, publications, online materials, and emails including the implementation and management of CampusESP software
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Other Required Qualifications
Strong organizational and analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
Required Experience
Five (5) years of related work experience
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master’s degree in student development, higher education, or other related fields
Preferred Experience
Six (6) or more years of related work experience
Evidence of progressively responsible administrative experience including supervision, staff development, and budget oversight
Experience with orientation and transition programming
Experience with Slate CRM and orientation-related technologies
Proposed Salary
$56,300 – $60,000
