Job Description : In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day and we need you as a Datacenter Project Manager (DCPM) with the primary focus at reducing stranded capacity by being a key member of the local team in the deployment planning and optimization of the IT capacity, working closely with Electrical Engineers and Critical Environment Field Service Engineer.
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I DCPM, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. By enabling data center capacity through increased Infrastructure Utilization Effectiveness (IUE) and Power Harvesting (PH), you will lead the retrofit efforts to upgrade legacy datacenters and harvest capacity in our existing fleet. Responsibilities
As a successful Datacenter Project Manager, your success will be measured by:
Data Center Operations
Ensures compliance with data center business units and service-level policies.
Engages with appropriate teams and resources to execute tasks or projects.
Manages programs associated with area of responsibility.
Demonstrates conscientiousness on cost adheres to budget requirements; keeps costs reasonable and contributes to staying within budget.
Follows and adheres to safety and security policies and procedures. Reports immediately any safety or security issues or concerns.
Participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process as appropriate.
Raises risks to the IT capacity allocation and planning. Identify power stranding and contractual inconsistencies (leased spaces).
Ensures that the critical environment information is properly entered and maintained (tooling).
Lead programs and projects through leadership forums aligning scope, schedule, and cost that align to our OKRs.
Service Delivery
Performs troubleshooting for service incidents and escalates, as appropriate, to meet SLA/OLAs, with minimal disruption to the client/customer and business.
Learns the customer’s business and maintains a strong customer focus.
Manages the assigned projects or programs to meet service delivery objectives and escalates to appropriate stakeholders to remove obstacles.
Recognizes potential customer impact of other events and issues (e.g., customer lockdown), communicates potential impact, and plans for impact accordingly.
Proactively reviews schedules and avoids conflicts when possible. Identifies, coordinates, manages expectations, and offers alternatives when defining customer solutions.
Manages relationships with clients and suppliers to ensure that all expectations are clarified, understood, documented, and met.
Data Center Work Environment
Shares best practices; assists others in learning role, process, procedures.
Collaborate and engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across CO+I and engineering groups to gain program / project insights. Leverage and synthesize these insights to develop and operationalize solutions that mitigate our customer gaps.
Provides mentorship across data centers for specific expertise.
Seeks training opportunities that meet the interest of the business as well as own career goals and objectives.
Suggests ways for reducing risk of performing maintenance; works with others to accommodate scheduling needs.
Suggests improvements in implementation based on depth of understanding.
Contributes to a positive team environment by learning and adopting best practices.
Contributes constructively during team meetings and in cross-discipline collaborations within the service team.
Recognizes priority of team success over individual achievement.

Qualifications
For this role, you are welcome to apply if you meet the following Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent AND 1+ year(s) of program management experience, including the ability to lead project teams, produce and maintain timelines, create & track metrics, and assemble project information into clearly written reports that document findings, actions, and progress.
OR 2+ years of program management experience, including the ability to lead project teams, produce and maintain timelines, create & track metrics, and assemble project information into clearly written reports that document findings, actions, and progress.
1+ year(s) project management experience.
1+ year(s) experience in capacity management in a 24x7x365 large-scale industrial operation; preferably a hyper-scale data center.
While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years’ experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU) and working in physical IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling).
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
