The Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications (MSC) within the Office of Student Academic Success (OSAS) is responsible for managing key relationships between the MSC area and colleagues both across all OSAS units such as the University Registrar, Graduate/Professional & Undergraduate Admissions, Military & Veterans Services, Transition and Academic Growth, Academic Enrichment, as well as directly with University Marketing and Communications. This position reports to the Assistant Vice Provost & Chief of Staff for OSAS. They collaborate with OSAS leadership for implementation of the OSAS Strategic Plan; work with Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate and Professional Admissions, University Marketing and the academic units to ensure collaboration and continuity of marketing and messaging as it relates to recruitment and enrollment; has strategic insight and shared responsibility in the development and execution of marketing and communications objectives for OSAS units; works with University Communications, University Marketing and OSAS leadership to align all OSAS marketing communications to follow best practices for brand implementation and integrity; has oversight on the execution of all marketing elements across all media, particularly through social media; supports the core work of implementation of IT systems, student information systems and support applications; partners with the OCIO on the phased implementation of the Customer Relations Management (CRM) software program for OSAS; supervises staff and coordinates workload to realize the organization’s goals; manages relationships with internal and external vendors; provides VP/Dean with executive level communication counsel and support; employs a comprehensive performance management system with all staff, including performance planning, coaching, multiple sources of feedback and performance reviews; serves on committees and conducts special projects and other duties as assigned. Leads and actively manages staff in the execution of goals by creating a supportive, positive and participative work environment for success and professional development while fostering a global perspective. Must be able to work effectively as part of a group in order to be a key member of a diverse senior leadership team focused on all aspects of Student Academic Success. Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Additional Education Desired
Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience; considerable demonstrated success in progressively responsible management capacity including direct experience in the occupation(s) supervised; strategic or long-range planning experience; experience managing a Customer Relations Management (CRM) software application; considerable experience collaborating with internal and external constituents; and experience with multiple forms of media.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s Degree and experience in higher education marketing; 10-15 years experience creating and managing operational and strategic marketing/communication initiatives targeted to motivate constituencies of a complex institution or organization
The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $125,000 – 135,000 annually.
