Job Description : Job Duties
Provides leadership and coordination in the administration of the dispute prevention and resolution processes of the special education help desk, IEP Team meeting facilitation, mediation, formal written complaints, and due process hearing requests.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in the continuous improvement of the five-dispute prevention and resolution processes as it relates to school districts and families of students with disabilitiesProviding oversight with regard to formal written complaints, including but not limited to, reviewing/editing investigator reports, developing corrective action plans, reviewing the policies, procedures, and practices of school districtsProviding oversight for IEP Team meeting facilitation, including but not limited to, reviewing IEP Team meeting facilitation requestsCommunicating with IEP facilitators, communicating with parents and school districts who request mediation and IEP Team meeting facilitation, and maintaining IEP Team meeting facilitation databaseProviding oversight with regard to formal special education complaints, including but not limited to, reviewing special education complaints, communication with parents and school districts regarding those complaintsConducting training and professional development activities for mediators, investigators, and IEP FacilitatorsMust also be able to prepare memoranda, reports, and presentation materialsPersonnel must be able to complete required job duties with limited supervision.

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
Master’s degree in education, education administration, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in a professional education capacity in K-12 general or special educationExperience in dispute or conflict resolution in special education, general education, or post-secondary educationExperience at the school, local district, or state level in supervising/monitoring for compliance with federal and state rules and regulationsGeorgia professional educator certification in special educationDoctoral degree in education or lawExcellent oral and written communications skills
NOTE: This is a teleworking position. The candidate may be required to attend meeings in the central office in downtown Atlanta.
Master’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of related experience.
