Job Description : Description: Position: Gallery AttendantReports to: Gallery Attendant SupervisorClassification: Hourly Non-Exempt, Part-Time and Full-TimeCompensation: $13.00/hourSchedule: Flexible schedules including evening and early morning posts, weekends, special events, holidays, and regular museum and office hours.Mission: The Dallas Museum of Art is a space of wonder and discovery where art comes alive.The DMA will: Place art and our diverse communities at the center around which all activities radiate.Pursue excellence in collecting and programming, present works of art across cultures and time, and be a driving force in contemporary art.Strengthen our position as a prominent, innovative institution, expanding the meaning and possibilities of learning and creativity.Scope of the Position: The Gallery Attendant works under the daily direct supervision of the Gallery Attendant Supervisor to safeguard works of art by ensuring Museum policies are observed and that the artwork is not touched or damaged in any way. The position represents the Dallas Museum of Art by making a good first impression to visitors as their initial point of contact. The Gallery Attendant position serves visitors of the Museum by providing information about programs, guidance, safety, activities, and the Dallas Arts District community in general.Duties and Responsibilities: Proactively safeguard art against theft, vandalism, or damage by greeting and observing visitors in the galleriesGreet and assist visitors with a high level of customer service, providing a welcoming and friendly environmentReport all suspicious conditions or persons; provide descriptions of potential violators of Museum policies; report accidents, injuries, and hazardous conditions to the SupervisorInspect art and facility conditions, annotating concerns, and maintenance issues on the opening and closing checklistEnsure the safety and positive experience of our visitors by remaining alert and watchful; circulate frequently through assigned postsProvide information to visitors about programs, guidance, safety, activities, and the Dallas Arts District community in generalAdminister DMA guidelines and emergency procedures, effectively assisting with difficult situations and emergency response, including evacuations and shelter-in-place events.
