ABOUT THIS POSITION: This position will work in the Home Care Unit in the Adult and Aging Division within the Fairfax County Department of Family Services. The Home Care Unit serves as primary manager of the Home-Based Care program – a service provided to eligible adults to help them remain in their homes and prevent unnecessary placement in an assisted living facility or nursing home. This position will review, verify, and process a high volume of invoices for Home Based Care services provided by the Home-Based Care contractor. Review purchase orders for accuracy and conduct purchase order training. Conduct phone surveys of Home-Based Care clients. Provides additional support to the Home Care Unit as service needs evolve. The Department of Family Services (DFS) Adult and Aging Division welcomes applicants interested in the Home Care Unit Human Service Worker I position.
Verifies and processes a high-volume of invoices for the contracted Home-Based Care (HBC) services.
Retrieves the invoices from the HBC contractor’s secure electronic invoice (e-invoice) portal and uploads the e-invoices to secure folders in order to review for accuracy and cross reference in our local system.
Electronically uploads the processed e-invoices into DFS Finance secure folders for payment.
Creates spreadsheets for data collection and tracking.
Assists with conducting purchase order training and assisting the social workers in creating accurate purchase orders.
Communicates orally and in writing with social workers, the HBC contractor’s staff and the DFS Finance department regarding issues with purchase orders and/or invoices.
Conducts monthly phone surveys of clients receiving HBC services.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with the aging and adults with disabilities.
Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
Ability to problem solve, detailed oriented, exercise tact, independent judgement, and creativity.
Experience with processing invoices.
Extensive experience and proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and other software applications.
Experience maintaining a database for tracking purposes.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs will still be subject to the weekly testing requirement.
