Position : InterLibrary Loan Assistant
Job Description : Job Summary/Basic Function
Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, the Interlibrary Loan Assistant- Borrowing assists the Interlibrary Loan Supervisor and Resource Sharing Librarian in the varied tasks of the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) department to ensure the timely delivery of materials to customers. He/she works alongside the student workers in the department to fill ILL requests by retrieving, checking out and/or scanning/packaging library materials. The ILL Assistant processes materials borrowed from and loaned to other libraries via Interlibrary Loan and updates corresponding Interlibrary Loan requests using relevant software. He/she also processes Purchase on Demand items and provides them to customers. Lastly, the ILL Assistant responds to both internal and external customers’ questions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Processes items borrowed through Interlibrary Loan or obtained via Purchase-on-Demand, both at point of receipt and point of return, including the updating of associated records on ILLiad
2. Processes Interlibrary Loan requests received from other libraries and updates associated ILLiad records
3. Retrieves or oversees retrieval, check out, packaging and/or scanning of materials from Liberty’s collection which are being provided to other libraries using appropriate software and technologies
4. Responds to customers’ questions and concerns relating to ILLiad and Interlibrary Loan processes and communicates with other libraries as necessary
5. Delivers or oversees delivery of returnable items to the correct location (Customer Service Center for pick-up or Faculty offices/departments)
6. Records and compiles information for billing purposes
7. Demonstrates the ability to work in and with diverse populations, supporting an equitable and inclusive environment.
8. Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.

Minimum Qualifications
Four-year college degree or relevant work experience
Well-developed communications skills
Preferred Qualifications
Library experience
Knowledge of Interlibrary Loan processes
Familiarity with ILLiad software
Work Hours
Full-time- 40 hours a week; somewhat flexible scheduling
