The core purpose of the Office for Research is to advance Rutgers preeminence in research and spur economic growth. Office for Research provides services university wide to support the faculty’s research and strategically leads the university’s economic development activities. Office for Research’s functions range from supporting the identification of new research funding opportunities and submission of grants proposals to post-award financial management and research regulatory affairs. The office directs research commercialization, including patenting and licensing, and serves as a central point for industry access.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lab Animal Care Technician for the Office for Research.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Under supervision, provides basic care, feeding, transportation, and daily observation for all animal species used in research and teaching.Assists in the general maintenance of the facilities, including working in Cagewash, changing animal caging, prep work and cleaning animal rooms.Ensures the humane care and treatment of the animals.
COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Valid driver’s license and two years driving experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and AALAS Certification
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability and willingness to work with a wide variety of animal species.Will be required to participate in the occupational health program for animal workers.
