This position collaborates with leadership and other plant personnel to ensure a safe, cost effective, and environmentally compliant operation. The plant operations department requires a 24 hour/7 days per week coverage and this position is on a rotating shift to meet this requirement.This position is subject to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations.Essential duties and responsibilitiesMust possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential functions of the job.Completes detailed, periodic checks on the plant instrumentation and equipment associated with the boiler, steam turbine-generator, air quality control, and combustion turbine-generator unitsCollaborates with shift supervisor and other plant personnel regarding the management of plant equipment and systemsMaintains and creates daily reports of equipment operational concerns and communicates those to peers in operations, maintenance, and managementMonitors PLC and computer control equipmentStudies the plant’s clearance and Tag Out/Lockout Policy, pass the associated exam, and safely perform the duties of hanging clearances within 6 monthsTimely completion of all plant operator steps associated with computer training and hands-on trainingMaintains regular and reliable attendanceOther functionsOperates bottom ash haul truckProvides leadership, direction and training to other operations personnelStudies plant training material in order to complete plant operator stepsPerforms other duties as assignedThis position has no supervisory or lead role responsibilities.Knowledge, skills and abilitiesWorking knowledge of power plant or other industrial facility’s fundamentals and how industrial plant equipment relates to each systemEffective oral and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Proven time management skillsStrong attention to detailMaintain good working relationships with co-workers and other personnelAbility to solve basic math problems like calculating flow within piping systems, compute percentages, and determine tank volumesKnowledgeable of industry safety procedures and protocolMinimum qualificationsTwo years of experience at a power plant or other industrial facilityCurrent valid driver’s license and ability to remain insurable under Platte River’s vehicle liability policyPreferred qualificationsHigh school diploma or its equivalent resulting in demonstrated ability to perform major dutiesHourly pay range for this position: $37.22 – $46.53 (placement DOQ)(range if annualized: $77,418 – $96,782)This position will remain posted until filled.Platte River Power Authority offers employees an outstanding benefits package.
