Position : R&D Chemist
Job Description : We are seeking an R&D Chemist for a full-time permanent position in Cincinnati, OH. The position will develop new products, maintain processes to manufacture products, support customer service troubleshooting and improve processes to reduce cost.Responsibilities: Maintain familiarity with current chemical literatureSynthesize and characterize new products, components and formulationsProvide Customer support and troubleshooting in the application of commercial productsUse a variety of analytical methods to monitor reaction processesDevelop synthetic plans and design and run experiments to test their suitability for large-scale useTroubleshoot existing processes — for example, determine what is causing the slime to appear in the scrubber stackUsing design of experiments to change multiple variables simultaneously and identify acceptable ranges for all operational parametersImprove existing processes to reduce cost and increase reliability, purity, and safetyUse simulation or modelling software to analyze extensive data sets and determine how changes in process affect the final productMaintain familiarity with, and operate by, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Occupational Safety & Health Administration regulations, including current good manufacturing practices and chemical hygiene plansSynthesize and characterize new products, components, and formulationsDesign multivariate studies of different formulations of a particular product, minimizing the number of replicates while maximizing the amount of information obtainedDesign and run applications experiments and trialsHelp manage trials, pilot studies, and panel tests to compare reactions of potential customers to proposed formulationsConduct studies on long-term stability of productsAnalyze results of experiments and trials and write reportsDevelop and provide marketing support for commercial productsCommunicate with customers, marketing, and the managementAssist with scale-up from development to production quantities, in collaboration with other R&D chemists, chemical engineers and plant production personnelProvide customer support and troubleshooting assistance in the application of commercial productsAssist in supervision of less experienced R&D Chemists, technicians, and Co-Op studentsAny other duties as assignedQualifications: BS Chemist or related field3+ years of relevant Chemist experienceAbility to think in terms of customer satisfaction and customer requirementsWritten and oral communication skills to explain findings and share results with scientists and non-scientistsSynthetic and/or analytical chemistry skills, including competence with laboratory instrumentsKnowledge of and diligent attention to federal and local regulatory constraintsComputer skills, including familiarity with computer modelling and data analysisINDRJob Type: Full-timePay: $60,000.00 – $63,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:Day shiftWork Location: One location
