Job Description : We are looking for an experienced Retail Manager to provide oversight for all operations of our retail store. In this position, the Retail Manager must be able to garner respect and motivate personnel to perform at their maximum capacity, keeping the store in good working order that attracts both local and visiting customers. The corporation is wholly owned by the Ketchikan Indian Community and has a separate Board of Directors. The corporation will need someone with the energy and knowledge to lead this business as we develop and grow. It will be a challenge but for the right individuals, it will also be very rewarding to lead this new business into the future.The Ketchikan Tribal Business Corporation is nestled in the community of Ketchikan, Alaska. We are an island with a population of approximately 14,000 citizens and the Tribal population is about 16.21% of that population base. This community has a rainfall of about 140 inches a year and because we are surrounded by the Pacific Ocean our climate is very temperate.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Recruit new employees- Retain excellent staff- Train, manage and regularly evaluate staff performance- Manage all store operations and delegated responsibilities- Supervise employees, providing coaching and mentorship to optimize productivity and increase sales- Set and monitor store’s budget, making every effort to maximize efficiency and profits- Manage appropriate levels of stock and purchases while staying on budget- Address customer complaints/feedback in a professional manner- Plan and execute specials and promos, including year-end clearance sales- Maintain current knowledge of market/trends- Analyze and predict sales, and sale trends to make informed decisions- Uphold compliance with all legal, health, and safety guidelines- Conduct discipline, coaching, and, when necessary, termination of employees- Protect against loss by monitoring security, training staff, and maintaining security camerasESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICSThe Retail Manager leads all operations at the location and is responsible for making sure the store functions smoothly while optimizing profits. The Retail Manager will direct restocking efforts, the floor merchandising plan, as well as handling hiring, retaining, scheduling, and training staff. You’ll need:- Leadership skills.- Customer service skills.- Experience to sell products and services.- Patience with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.- Capacity to receive constructive criticism.- Ability to work well with others.- Appreciate working with other people.- Sensitivity and understanding.- Excels in various types of staff training (e.g., Onboarding, performance, etc.).- Ready to use a computer and the main software packages competently.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES- A.A. in business, marketing, sales, or relevant field, or combination of high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years related work experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience.
