Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced archivist with a passion for aviation in Hawaii. This position would be responsible for overseeing our Hawaiian Airlines physical and digital archives, covering over 92 years of aviation in Hawaii. Besides traditional archival duties, this person would assist our brand team with licensing and trademarking efforts to ensure the longtime preservation of our brand marks, as well as collaborating on internal/external initiatives related to Hawaiian Airlines history.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee Hawaiian Airlines physical and digital company archives – facilitate acquisition, preservation, arrangement, description, and access to born-digital materials
Design and maintain organizational systems to keep track of all archive materials developing metadata, preparing indexes, meta-tags, and descriptions of materials, and then converting these into digital format when possible
Support trademarking strategy of heritage and current logo marks
Create heritage research files relevant to business objectives
Assist team members, designers, and vendors interested in accessing the Archives
Appraise the materials, determine preservation and conservation issues, and determine best practice for resolving issues
Manage Hawaiian Airlines first prop plane, the Bellanca, program – including overseeing maintenance vendors, storage, and employee flight program
Teach archival practices, create exhibits, and engage in other outreach activities
Maintain and update archival database as well as heritage assets used in other DAMs
Other duties as assigned or directed
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in history, art history, library science, or records management
Certificate from Academy of Certified Archivists or 3 years of experience in a similar field
Basic understanding of trademark requirements and process
Demonstrated ability in managing cross-functional internal teams and third-party vendors
Excellent organizational skills in developing systems for storing materials and making them available to the business
Ability to conduct tours, informational sessions, and workshops
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage tight deadlines
Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to make recommendations based on data and analysis
Able to travel to and obtain visas for foreign countries
Must have received the COVID Vaccine by date of hire

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of experience in similar field
Expertise in aviation history and/or the history of aviation in Hawaii
Airline or travel industry experience
Extensive knowledge of trademarking qualifications and process
Experience in licensing logo marks
Former Hawaiian Airlines employee with knowledge of our company’s history
