This operational center specializes in regulatory compliance, soil and groundwater assessment, site remediation, and other environmental client services. The Tampa and Tallahassee Operations Team manages multiple environmental contracts that provide a wide range of services including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, conservation easement monitoring, site assessment, remediation design and construction, and treatment system operation and maintenance. This Team operates under a variety of regulatory regimes including Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and USEPA Region IV.POSITION CONCEPT: NorthStar is looking for qualified person to fill a Staff-level position. In this position, you will play a key role in NorthStar’s expansion of the Tampa operations team’s service offerings. We are looking for an individual who is interested in a long-term position and who wants to grow and expand their professional skillset.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: In the role of Staff Environmental Scientist, we’ll count on you to:Assist with data collection, manipulation, analysis and documentation;Assist with reporting and proposals to conduct work;Conduct field activities such as Phase I site assessments, soil and groundwater sampling, petroleum storage system removals and water treatment system operation and maintenance;Maintain in-house equipment, such as multi-meters, photoionization detectors and other related small equipment;Track and maintain expendables inventory;Perform subcontractor oversight; andPerform other duties as neededREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a natural science, geology or engineering discipline;0 – 3 years of related professional experience;Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, both public and private, as well as representatives of local, state and federal regulatory agencies;Knowledge of environmental regulations and Florida or USEPA standard operating procedures;Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to complete project tasks;Strong verbal and written communication skills;An attitude and commitment to being passionate about doing exceptional work, energizing staff and delivering responsive service to our clients;Willing to travel within the southeastern US, including some weekends (< 5%);High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic;Capable of lifting 50 lbs. and can work in the field independently; andCurrently holds a valid driver’s license.Authorized to work in the United States.Residence in the Tampa Bay, Florida area is required.
