Job Description : Summary:
The Team Leader oversees the Community Living Services Team to which they are assigned. This position is responsible for the daily operation of the program by efficiently managing its resources with results that are aligned with the personal outcomes of the individuals served. The Team Leader reports directly to the Director of Community Living Services Department.
Essential Job Functions:
Ensures all CLS services adhere to the Arc’s Mission Statement and Value Guiding Service Standards, federal, state, local, and grant standards.
Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of operations policies and procedures related to the team’s services.
Select, supervise, train, and mentor Case Managers.
Promotes staff professionalism through professional example, direction, and support by communicating performance expectations. Assures that staff observes policies and procedures consistently.
Assists in developing a work environment that promotes personal and professional growth and teamwork.
Responsible for training and supervision of Case Managers and other assigned staff with outcomes of demonstrated competency in all identified areas
Accountable for the development and management of a system that identifies vacancies and works to meet all staffing needs
Responsible for managing the resources of the program to ensure services provided are within budget constraints
Prepares and submits written reports as requested
Responsible for sharing in an on-call system to provide support to direct care staff and individuals receiving services
Makes reports in cases of known or suspected abuse and neglect under Alaska Statutes and The Arc of Anchorage Abuse/Neglect Policies
Coordinates with agency licensing personnel for initial and annual licensing of Foster Care and Assisted Living Homes
Assures placements are appropriate by agency standards and procedures, and licensing regulations
Assures ongoing compliance with licensing regulations and HUD requirements
Refers and assists individuals/families to appropriate community services/entitlements
Develops and writes each person’s Habilitation Plan as needed
Performs monthly checks of each residence and assigned vehicle to ensure they are in good condition and maintenance schedules as followed
May provide direct support services as needed
Assists with identifying and developing areas for improvement.
Provides conflict resolution, mediation and problem solving assistance to case managers.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms with individuals, families, agency personnel, and other stakeholders consumers, families, significant others, coworkers, supervisors, other service agencies, and the community.
Participates in and facilitates trainings, in-services, and staff meetings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate openly and effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective positive working relationships with individuals, families, and agency personnel
Participates as a team member working towards common goals, developing its members skills, and commitment to continuous improvement
Skill in examining and reengineering operations and procedures, developing and implementing new strategies
Knowledge of community social service agencies and programs
Ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate discretion and integrity
Exhibits the ability to exercise patience, understanding, and concern for each individual’s health, growth, safety, and enjoyment of life
Demonstrates skill in supporting individuals through crises as well as circumstances of day-to-day life
Education and Experience:
Associate degree in Human Services required. Bachelor’s in Human Services preferred.
Two years working with people who experience developmental and intellectual disabilities required
One year of management or supervisory experience required
Clearances:
Background checks as defined by licensing agencies
Valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move about
Must be physically able to evacuate individuals in the event of an emergency
Ability to see within normal parameters
Ability to hear within the normal range
Adaptability to a fast-paced environment
