Position Summary
Provide clerical support to busy Anatomic Pathology service.
Responsibilities
Register outreach patients in Epic
obtain, correct and verify missing information as needed including clinical information, patient demographics, insurance information, etc, requiring contact with doctor’s offices.
Triage routine and non-routine patient specimens including sorting and organizing specimen containers.
Accession outreach specimens.
Accession in patient specimens.
Accessioning of cases for second opinion from other institutions
Trouble shoot and document discrepancies/problem cases.
Handle multiple telephone lines, take detailed messages and direct incoming calls.
Will label specimen containers, microscopic slides and specimen cassettes.
Scanning of materials including but not limited, slides, requisitions, logs etc.
Transport materials
Read, fax and/or mail test results in accordance with policy and procedures.
Must maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with policy and procedure.
Perform other related duties as related to operations of work unit.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least two to three years of related experience or equivalent in education and/or business experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of medical and/or scientific terminology preferred. Must be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Word.
Familiarity with CoPath or similar Anatomic Pathology Laboratory system a plus.
