Job Description : SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Gondola Operations Supervisor and/or Gondola Operator, acting as a platform or station attendant is responsible for safely loading/unloading passengers onto/off of gondola cabins. All personnel shall use reasonable care while performing their duties.JOB DUTIESOn a daily or shift basis, and in accordance with ISP’s policies & procedures and in accordance with all ANSI B-77 guidelines, is the platform or station attendant who is responsible for the safe and orderly direction of passenger traffic embarking and disembarking the gondola cabins in addition to the following:a) to be knowledgeable of operational, emergency, and loss of control procedures (see 1.4 – loss of control) and the related equipment needed to perform the assigned dutiesb) to monitor the passengers’ use of the aerial lift; including observing, advising and assisting them while they are in the attendant’s work area as they embark on or disembark from the aerial lift; and to respond to unusual occurrences or conditions, as noted. The attendant should respond by choosing an appropriate action, which may include any of the following;1) assisting the passenger;2) slowing the aerial lift (when applicable);3) stopping the aerial lift;4) continuing operation and observation.c) to deny access to an aerial lift to individuals,using provided practices;d) to advise the operator of observed abnormal orunusual conditions that may adversely affect thesafety of the operation;e) to reasonably maintain loading and unloadingareasf) to assist in evacuation of the lift, as assignedg) to advise and assist passengers with adaptive equipment, as assigned;h) to be knowledgeable of the procedures for reporting incidents and obtaining appropriate first aid personnel.Keeps current on training received on operating procedures related to enclosed cabins, loading/unloading, control center communications and customer service interaction.Might receive daily guidance, training or work assignments from the shift Gondola Operator in the absence of the Gondola Operations Supervisor.Shall practice good housekeeping, with emphasis on preventing the development of any condition contributing to personal injury; tasks might include cabin cleaning, window cleaning and/or loading area vacuuming/sweeping/mopping.Ability to work as team member.Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEAbility to meet time and attendance requirements.Ability to work all different shifts including days, evenings, holidays and weekendsAbility to handle stress under pressure.Ability to provide quality customer service.Ability to physically assist with evacuation procedures under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Operations and/or the Gondola Maintenance Supervisor.Ability to physically rope evacuate passengers and self from gondola cabin.Excellent communication and superior customer service skills.Ability to learn, understand and follow verbal and written instructions/directions.Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other department & employees.Ability to work directly with the public, providing prompt and courteous information and assistance on a daily basis.Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.Ability to stay calm, cool and collected in the event of a gondola operation stoppage of any kind, guests will be looking to you for guidance and/or direction.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED); ANDAbility to successfully pass a background check.Drug testing required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)Prior Lift, Gondola or Tram Operations experience.Current CPR and first aid certificates.WORKING CONDITIONSConstant movement in/out of gondola cabins up/down up to a 1600 ft. elevation; exposed to inclement weather conditions (rain, wind, snow); constant public interaction and communication; constant exposure to extreme heights; possible exposure to dangerous situations during emergency evacuations.
