Job Description : Position Summary:The main responsibility of a ZipRider Operator is to ensure that riders are safely prepared to participate in the world’s largest ZipRider. Icy Strait Point’s ZipRider is 1,300’ high, over a mile long, moves at speeds up to 60mph and takes approximately 90 seconds from top to the bottom. It’s a rush! There is the “top tower,” where guests arrive by means of a scenic tour and bus ride before being securely strapped into the harness seat by you, the operator, and there is the “bottom tower” where guests are unstrapped by you, the operator.Responsibilities:Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: BAP: Best,Authentic and Profitable.Securely strap guests into harness seat at start of ride and out of harness seat at end of ride.Keep safety foremost in your mind and actions at all times when on the job.From “bottom tower” at end of ride, return harnesses to “top tower.”From “top tower” retrieve returned harnesses for start of next ride.Communicate comfortably with guests and colleagues.Deliver a first-class experience to all guests and visitors.Learn and impart knowledge to guests of all that Icy Strait Point has to offer, including history, tours,food and beverage venues, retail products and venues, what’s available in town, etc.Assist guests who need or request assistance in getting on/off bus.Experience, Skills and Qualifications:Work on your feet the majority of the day with minimal break time (lunch is often “on the fly”).Work outside at all times, in all kinds of weather.Being comfortable with heights.Be a minimum of 16 years old for bottom tower and 18 years old for top tower.Have the upper body strength to accurately maneuver a 10’ pole to engage return system that sendsharnesses from the bottom tower to the top tower.Have the upper body strength and flexibility to reach overhead with both arms to pull down harnessretrieval line.Mechanical aptitude a plus.Have or be able to attain First Aid/CPR certification.Willing to submit to pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion of drug andalcohol testing.Able to lift and carry 25 pounds.Icy Strait Point is a Native-owned and operated enterprise and offers Native preference under P.L.93-638.Applicants must have proof of legal authority to work in the United StatesJob Types: Full-time, TemporaryPay: From $16.00 per hourBenefits:Employee discountSupplemental Pay:Bonus paySigning bonusCOVID-19 considerations:Vaccination requiredAbility to commute/relocate:Hoonah, AK: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: One location
