Summary: Announced in June of 2021, Spokane, Washington will be home to two new USL clubs – a men’s professional team will compete in USL League One, and a women’s pre-professional team will compete in the USL W-League. It is a club for Spokane, by Spokane and being built with the Greater Spokane Community.

Spokane has all the ingredients to be one of the best soccer cities in America – a growing and diverse population, a sports and arts district with a new soccer stadium and PASSIONATE sports fans. USL Spokane will bring the world’s game to the home of the World’s Fair in a new downtown Spokane stadium set to open in 2024.

Position Purpose: The Content Creator will serve as the primary storyteller for the club by creating and sharing content to elevate the Greater Spokane community, the world’s game and USL. The position will create and lead the development and distribution of content across various digital platforms, including but not limited to website, social media e-mail communication for both the League One and W-league teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and implement the engagement strategy for the organization via its digital platforms.
Manage and create compelling digital content including but not limited to blogging/writing, website posts, social media posts (copy, image and video), email newsletters and contests.
Maintain and update the primary website(s).
Establish and maintain a dynamic editorial calendar for content that engages other departments and the leagues.
Track and provide monthly reports all digital engagement and media impressions via various analytic tools.
Create and maintain a library of assets for digital use in coordination with the club’s Marketing, Communication and Partnership departments and leagues.
Work across the organization to support the operation of each department and its initiatives and goals as it relates to club digital content and engagement with online audiences.
Create select graphic assets to assist club-specific initiatives; would be done in coordination with marketing department or outside agency.
Collect, analyze and identify content inventory. Provide gap analysis and recommendations for internal and external pipeline of content, including budget and talent management.
Identify and recommend new platforms or campaigns as trends and technology evolve.
Provide customer service and be responsive to requests from online communities on behalf of the club; delegate follow up to coworkers or departments as needed.
Assist with training players, front office and coaches towards use of social media in accordance with industry standards, and USL Spokane and USL policies.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Game Day and Event Responsibilities:
Lead all match day online engagement including but not limited to: live social posts from event, updates on player status, scores, trivia, sponsor activation, contests, pre/post game reports on website.
Ability to attend select team and community events in order to capture and share content.
Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if / when necessary.

Qualifications:
High school degree or equivalent and 2+ years of experience in a digital marketing, online content creation, blogging, social media, inbound marketing, ecommerce and/or digital design or related experience.
Commitment and passion to uplift the greater Spokane region and the world’s game through soccer and USL Spokane.
Understanding and knowledge of American soccer, U.S. Soccer, European Football and/or World Cup including but not limited to key players, leagues, clubs and industry developments a bonus but not required.
Excellent writing skills including SEO copywriting and blogging.
Expert understanding and use of social media including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, video and image sharing sites.
Must be able to build and maintain relationships with online communities.
Must have in-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Google Analytics; experience with WordPress (or similar open source CRM), Mail Chimp (or similar email communications platform); Adobe Suite and social media project software (e.g. Hootsuite, HeyOrca, Sprout Social).
Photography and video editing experience a plus but not required.
Experience building, analyzing and converting databases a plus but not required.
Actively participate in club meetings and training.
Strong analytical skills.
Creative problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with employees, executives, internal and external partners.
Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must.
Must have U.S. work authorization.
