Associate Position DescriptionThe Design Associate works with a collaborative, creative team and under the direction of firm principals and project managers to assist with graphic design, production and communications projects and tasks. The Associate provides services to communities, Tribal entities, businesses, nonprofit and other organizations, and local, statewide and federal agencies. Depending on the needs of the client, the Design Associate may directly engage in or support a wide range of activities including development of graphics or infographics, document layout and development of print materials, website design or development, digital marketing or design activities for web ads or social media, branding, template development, or short animations. The Associate will also assist with firm marketing activities, social media updates, website updates, proposals and qualifications development.Minimum Education/Experience RequirementsThe successful applicant will meet the following minimum requirements:Bachelor’s degree (or current student) in design, art, communications or another relevant field; ORTwo years of experience in relevant fields that reflects competency in some combination of graphic design, illustration, or website design.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesThe successful applicant will have:Experience working with people using different communication styles, incorporating culturally appropriate ideas and communicating adaptively with people and audiences from a wide variety of backgrounds, including Alaska Native/American Indian populations and Tribal organizations, refugee and immigrant populations, communities of color, people who have experienced homelessness or other trauma as well as general audiences and influencers and decision-makers..Strong skills in the following areas: o Graphic design, layout and document production o Design programs such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and AcrobatExperience with (or willingness to learn): o Web design and development, particularly WordPress o Microsoft Word and PowerPoint o Working in a Windows environment o Basic principles and techniques for public information campaigns and marketing o Digital and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.Additional skills beneficial to this position (but not required) include photography, video production or editing, development of short animations, creative writing, 3D rendering, GIS mapping, experience with communications, copywriting and editing.The ability to: o Generate products and meet high standards of quality assurance o Work at an efficient pace, organize work well, meet deadlines, and problem-solve o Seek additional help/support when needed o Work both independently and as an active, engaged team member o Be flexible with workload and schedule o Pitch in when and where needed – we’re a small firm with a “team approach” to problem solving and accomplishing goalsCompensation and BenefitsThis full-time position works an average of 32-40 hours per week at a competitive pay (pay range is $45,000-70,000 depending on experience) with opportunities for annual increases based on cost-of-living increases and individual performance at firm discretion. Our office hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm, with flexibility available on a pre-approved basis.This position can be remote, though there is a preference for a local Idaho or Alaska-based candidate.Full-time employees are eligible for firm benefits including employer-contribution health insurance, paid time off, retirement contributions and additional professional development, health and lifestyle benefits.Agnew::Beck is committed to encouraging and supporting our employees’ advancement.
