Position : Emergency Management Coordinator
Job Description : The City of Bryan is currently accepting applications for Emergency Management Coordinator.Hiring Rate$70,000 – $80,000 (depending on experience)ResponsibilitiesSupervises the development and implementation of the City of Bryan/Brazos County Inter-jurisdictional Emergency Management Plan.Works within the Emergency, Financial, and Governmental communities including technical experts, agency managers, and public safety department chiefs, City Officials, State and Federal Agencies in the management of the City of Bryan Emergency Management Plan.Acts as liaison with City departments on their departmental plans and emergency procedures and ensures each department understands emergency and evacuation procedures.Oversees the development and implementation of new technical systems and capabilities and operational readiness of the City of Bryan/Brazos County Emergency Operations Center.Coordinates a public education program to minimize the impact of major emergencies and develops training programs and disaster exercises for emergency responders.Serves as the primary leader for implementing and sustaining the City of Bryan Homeland Security Grant Program.Represents the City as an active member of the Brazos County Inter-jurisdictional Emergency Management Program and as a member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee.Facilitates efforts with other Texas regions and with State and Federal personnel on a regular basis.Attends various meetings with government and private sector agencies and officials throughout Bryan and Brazos County.Delivers presentations on emergency management topics to community groups and other organizations.Prepares the annual Emergency Management budget and required strategic plans.Prepares correspondence, reports, letters, memos, grant applications, spreadsheets, agendas, etc.Prepares and tracks annual performance measures.Performs related duties as required.Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree with major coursework in emergency management, public policy, safety, environmental science, business, public administration, or closely related field plus at least 6 years of professional experience in emergency management, disaster response, public safety operations, public health administration, or similar area of responsibility or a Master’s degree with major coursework in emergency management, public policy, safety, environmental science, business, public administration, or closely related field plus at least 4 years of experience as listed above.
