Job Description : Flight CoordinatorVacancy Announcement – 13 December 2021 ALASKA AIR TRANSIT (AAT) is hiring a Flight Coordinator for our Merrill Field, Anchorage location! The Flight Coordinator is a key member of the Operations and Customer Service team, responsible for coordinating the ground and flight operations necessary to carry out the flight schedule. The Flight Coordinator performs critical operational control functions, and shares responsibility with the Pilot-in-Command for pre-departure risk assessment, and uses satellite technology to flight follow underway flights.WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Basic aviation knowledge and experience, such as that of a private pilot or dispatcherWillingness to expand your existing knowledge of aviation topics such as fight safety, aviation weather, aircraft performance, and IFR flight planningAbility to prioritize and multitask in fast paced environments.To be flexible, curious, hard-working, capable of self-starting, task-managing, and prioritizing, and be able to thrive as part of a supportive team in a challenging, dynamic environment.To be familiar with word processing, email, and internet applicationsWHAT YOU’LL DO: Coordinate with Customer Service Agents (CSA’s) during passenger check-in to generate the passenger and freight manifests used by the Pilot-in-Command (PIC)Assess aviation weather and share equally in preflight dispatch decisions with the PIC to ensure safety of flight, passenger comfort, and service reliabilityUse satellite flight tracking and satellite messaging to support airborne flights, monitor weather and provide real-time updates to the PICCoordinate aircraft availability and preparation with the Maintenance and Ramp departmentsWhen workload allows, assist CSA’s by making bookings in the computer reservation system, communicating flight status, and helping to problem solve customer concernsWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: To learn from highly qualified pilots whose experience includes not only mixed IFR and VFR operations throughout Alaska, but also four branches of military aviation and major airlinesTo be part of a successful, well respected company that enjoys a loyal long-term customer baseTo be immersed in the culture of Alaskan aviation; working with a stellar aviation teamWHO WE ARE: AAT is a community-oriented small business that focuses on safety and customer serviceAAT is dedicated to the happiness, health, and success of our employees.
