Hospital Assistance Interviewer

Interviews patient to determine eligibility for financial assistance, maintain records and prepares necessary applications for County reimbursement, responsible for keeping track of all self pay accounts.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
Experience in Healthcare field preferred
Responsibilities:
The interviewer is responsible for completing at least 25 accounts per day which are coded accurately in the Ontrac system. All follow up accounts require an appropriate tickle date, for cases that are pending decisions, documentation, medical records request , self pay and preadmit accounts
Maintains records and application forms which are kept on all applications for Medicaid, SLH, Foods Stamps, Famis and the Special Delivery Program. Medical records are requested if necessary thru the Ontrac system
All self pay inpatients must be seen or interviewed within 24hours of their admission unless on weekends
Charity care is only processed when the patient meets the category of established guidelines in the form of three most recently documents: consecutive pay stubs, lease of the apartment, utility bills and bank statement
All patients from the outpatient clinic, Arlington free clinic, private physician office’s, inpatient and pre-admitted self pay patients are referred to the Financial Assistance Department for determination of eligibility for local, federal, and state programs. All completed applications with proper documentations and medical records are delivered to DHS by the interviewer
