Job Description : Primary Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, the HR Generalist-Benefits is responsible for the delivery and administration of employee benefit programs and services covering 400+ employees in a wide variety of areas such as including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 403(b) plan, flex spending accounts, and others including voluntary benefits. Maintain good working relations with all staff and hospital employees in alignment with our Mission, Vision and Aloha Values.Collaborate with HR-related vendors, such as third-party leave administrator, TDI and workers compensation providers, healthcare providers, and all othersManage employees’ requests for leaves of absence, ADA accommodations, etc.Review, revise and recommend updates to benefit offerings, benefit-related policies, procedures, sections in the Employee Handbook in accordance with appropriate standards, requirements and organizational culture.Ensure compliance with labor laws including wage and hour regulations, Hawaii Pre-Paid Health Care Act, FMLA, HFLL, COBRA, ADA and EEO, unemployment compensation, temporary disability insurance, worker’s compensation and other applicable state and federal laws, as well as organizational directives.Participate in audits, compliance reporting and other employee-related inquiries.Assist with organizational and departmental goals, deadlines, projects and priorities.Manage all ADA accommodation requests, following up with related documentation as needed, and serving as an information source for the employee.Other Duties: 1. Follow hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program policies.2. Comply with hospital and departmental work rules and policies.3. Maintain annual hospital requirements including in-service trainings, PPD, mask wearing, etc.4. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.5. Perform other related duties as assigned or as needed.Skills/Knowledge: 1. Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.2. Ability to write legibly and read and understand the English language sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.3. Strong project management and follow through skills; ability to organize and drive completion of multiple projects.4. Extensive knowledge or employee benefits and applicable laws.5. Adept in statistical report writing and HR-related reports.6. Ability to tailor communication approach to specific situations and audiences.7. Ability to identify and resolve problems with business acumen and accurate judgment.8. Proven ability to work independently and make sound judgments on a day-to-day basis regarding assigned and ad hoc duties with very limited or absence of direction from the HR Director.9. Experience in supporting and coaching department managers in areas relating to benefits, unemployment and worker’s compensation.10. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and to handle challenging and/or sensitive situations.11. Exceptional integrity. Trustworthy, credible, unbiased, and willing to share information and serve as a mentor.12. Employment is subject to being completely vaccinated or having a WGH approved COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption prior to providing services for the facility.Education/Licensure and Certification: High school graduate or equivalent.Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management or related field preferred. Comparable levels of experiences may be substituted for education.Experience: A minimum of 3 years of increasingly responsible experience as an HR Coordinator, Specialist, Generalist or HR Business Partner is required.A minimum of 3 years of HR-related experience with benefits, unemployment and/or worker’s compensation experience.Enhanced Qualifications: 1. HR Certification preferred.Working Conditions1. Air conditioned, well lighted environment.2. Subject to frequent interruptions.3. May work beyond normal working hours.4. Frequent interruptions by staff/managers needing assistance.5. Interacts with staff, other departments, and external contacts.Equipment Use1.
