Job Description : Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for an Investigative Analyst in its Trial Division. DANY is obligated to disclose to defense attorneys information that could be used to impeach the credibility of prosecution witnesses, including police officers. In this position, the Analysts will assist the Trial Division in the acquisition, analysis, and maintenance of this impeachment information, and help with the preparation of such materials for disclosure.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work with NYPD, other law enforcement departments, and various civilian agencies to acquire impeachment information.
Create and maintain databases of impeachment information.
Collaborate with other DANY units, including IT, Library, and Planning and Management, on infrastructure, tools, and policies.
Assist in the preparation of documents for disclosure to defense attorneys.
Help field questions and requests from Assistant District Attorneys regarding the Office’s policies and procedures for the disclosure of impeachment material.
Perform related administrative and paralegal functions as needed.
Qualifications:
A high level of skill in standard computer operating systems and software (Adobe, Windows, Microsoft Office, Word, and PowerPoint), with a strong ability to learn new software.
A high level of proficiency in the use of Excel to manage large amounts of data.
Good problem-solving skills, and the ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and a high concern for data accuracy.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interact with all levels of staff, law enforcement representatives, and outside visitors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous internship or work experience in law or the criminal justice field strongly preferred.
Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required; ideally with a major or substantial coursework in math, statistics, law, and/or criminal justice is preferred.
Commitment:
One (1) year commitment to the hiring division.
