Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Library Associate II for Rutgers Libraries. Under the direct supervision of and reporting to the Library Supervisor I for Access Services, the Library Associate II is responsible for assisting the research efforts of Rutgers Newark faculty, students and staff by providing access to library materials through access services including library material circulation, course reserves, resources sharing and interlibrary loan, and collection management. A primary responsibility of this position will be to expedite access to materials obtained from other Rutgers University units, designated consortia members, and other libraries for their use, and likewise for the provision of materials to users at other Rutgers University units, designated consortia members, and the broader community of libraries.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists with course reserves, circulation and collections based projects, for example, scanning documents, collection inventories.
Coordinates retrieval and processing of Dana Library materials which have been requested for loan to other Rutgers University Libraries (RUL) units, and by the consortia library members of which RUL is affiliated.
Assists in the verification of bibliographic information and the determination of locations of materials through the use of computerized bibliographic systems and interlibrary loan platforms such as Alma, ILLiad, and OCLC, as well as other standard platform.
Coordinates Web document delivery at Dana. Scans Dana items for delivery to other institutions; processes and posts incoming documents to the Web for retrieval by Dana users.
Creates and removes item records for non-Rutgers materials in the Libraries’ resource sharing integrated system.
Monitors requests to resolve any problems and maintain currency.
Maintains communications with patrons regarding their requests using Alma responses, email, and the Ask-A-Librarian electronic reference service.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates general knowledge of and understanding of basic library operations including using an integrated library system, bibliographic utilities, and other library and information systems.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Computer literacy and the ability to rapidly adapt to changing technologies.
Good communication skills, and a user-centered focus.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ILLiad or other resource-sharing utilities.

Equipment Utilized
Bibliographic and resource sharing utility , including Ex Libris Alma; ReShare, the platform used by the PALCI consortium; OCLC, the primary national bibliographic utilities; ILLiad, our resource sharing utility; and ARIEL, a document delivery utility.
Requires use of the Fulfillment module of Alma. Uses the LibAnswers module (SpringShare). General use of a PC, Microsoft Office, and print and microform scanning equipment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
May require lifting of heavy books/bound periodicals up to 20 pounds and pushing a loaded book truck weighing up to 300 pounds.
Library hours may vary, the regular schedule for this position may include work on weekends and evenings. Assigned hours may change throughout the year based on the Academic Calendar.
