Position : Maintenance Helper
Job Description : Summary
In accordance with Assets, Inc. core values and mission, the Maintenance Helper assists the Maintenance Manager and the rest of the maintenance team in performing a variety of maintenance, repair, janitorial, cleaning of vehicles, and grounds keeping tasks at the Assets Main Office and other assigned facilities to keep the properties looking good and functioning well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adheres to and demonstrates Assets, Inc. core values and mission in the performance of all aspects of this position.
Provides direct labor in accordance with OSHA safety standards at the work site.
Operates all industry standard equipment as required by factory specifications.
Assists with preventative and corrective building maintenance, small equipment repair, general automotive maintenance (ex: check fluids, air tires, assigned cleaning, etc.), seasonal grounds work (raking, mowing, removing snow, etc.), janitorial work, and general carpentry work as requested.
Assists other staff with large cleaning projects, including unit turnovers, as necessary or assigned.
Communicates repair or extensive cleaning needs to supervisor before starting work, seeking assistance to complete maintenance work not within personal skill level.
Communicates and interacts with customers with a customer-oriented approach and remains proactive to individual problems.
Participates in meetings and trainings, as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: No prior experience, training, or minimal education required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret basic safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to communicate basic work related needs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have reliable transportation.
Desired Skills and Abilities
Ability to understand and interpret OSHA safety standards and MSDS materials.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with people from various backgrounds.
Working knowledge of industry standard custodial equipment (ex: vacuum cleaners, compressors, hoses, lawn mowers, trimmers, etc.)
Understanding of individuals who experience disabilities.
Be an independent problem solver and possess organizational skills.
Basic practical understanding of general construction, plumbing, mechanical, lighting and electrical systems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however may become very loud on occasion.
