Job Description : Description
At Healthpointe, our Medical Records Clerks create new medical records and retrieve existing records by gathering the correct folders and contents. They also assign new record numbers, verify existing record information, and input information as needed. Medical Records Clerks also retrieve and deliver the correct records upon request.
Responsibilities
As a Medical Records Clerk, some of your responsibilities will include the following:
Collecting patient demographic information from different sources
Collaborating with registration staff while inputting and retrieving information from data system
Managing index of patients by auditing, correcting, and communicating any discrepancies and inaccuracies to the appropriate staff.
Maintaining accurate documentation of reasons why charts and medical records are not accessible with proper terminology
Obtaining documentation requested by healthcare professionals, such as test results that are not yet filed in medical records.
Following procedures, protocols, and rules to perform job duties while adhering to regulations and policies set forth by company.
Maintaining and protecting sensitive and private information by keeping patient records confidential in accordance with HIPAA, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Engaging in ongoing training, education, and professional activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and professionalism.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail, as well as superior organizational skills. A talent for time management is a plus. Exceptional communication skills are an absolute must.
We want someone who will accept ownership and responsibility for all actions, tasks, and requests to enhance medical records management and hospital compliance, as well as our reputation.
