Salary: $5,697 to $6,936 per month (SR-26, Step C to H)

Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary
This series includes all classes of positions the duties of which are to oversee the development, maintenance and operations of State parks, historic sites and recreational areas on a district basis, and the construction of appropriate structures and facilities.

The State Parks Program includes parks, camp sites, picnic grounds, lodgings, scenic lookouts and historic sites, such as ancient burial grounds and temples, located throughout the State. Staff level positions in the program provide long-range planning and general project plans, prepare and disseminate parks program information, conduct research on the identification and preservation of historic sites, and performs other functions. Positions in this series oversee such functions as visitor information, enforcement of rules and regulations, rental of lodgings repairs and maintenance, and implementation of development and construction plans.

The Parks District Superintendent II has responsibility for planning, coordinating and directing the maintenance and operations of State parks and historic sites; direct construction and development projects; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Education: Graduation from high school.

Work experience requiring the ability to read and comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for the required Education on a year-for-year basis.

Specialized Experience: Five years of work experience in one or any combination of the following:
A. Responsibility for the operation and maintenance of a park or other recreational or conservation areas which included general construction, maintenance and repair of its grounds, utilities, equipment and facilities; public relations such as providing historical or botanical/wildlife information to visitors; and application of its rules, regulations and policies.
B. Professional, technical, administrative, investigational, or other responsible work experience which required knowledge of the management and operations of parks or other recreational or conservation areas.
C. Work experience which involved the planning or design of the construction, operation and maintenance, or conservation of parks or other recreational or conservation areas.

Supervisory Experience: One year of work experience which included such factors as establishing work methods and procedures; planning, scheduling and reviewing the work of others; preparing cost estimates for labor, equipment and materials; and maintaining records and reports of cost, supply, equipment and personnel data.

Driver’s License: Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
