We are autonomous and challenging.Our work environment includes:Safe work environmentFlexible working hoursElectronics Radar TechnicianDescription/Job SummarySummary:The Electronics Radar Technician provides operation, maintenance, and sustainment to the AN/MPS-T1 Replica/FSU Threat Radar at the JPARC on Eielson, AFB. Maintenance responsibility will be to the component level and require interfacing with system engineering staff. It is critical to have exposure to the different frequency band versions of this simulator (S-Band and X-Band).Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Work requires the ability to understand system level operation as well as system level diagnosis for repair, maintenance, and sustainment.Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment operations.Applies the principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Operates, maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment and devices related to all aspects of radar, to include transmitters, receivers servo systems, mixers and switches, amplifiers, and wiring.Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents.Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.Receives technical guidance as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.Other Related Duties:May provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.Performs other related duties as required.Qualifications:Education:Desired qualifications are Associates Degree in electronics engineering technology, with an emphasis on RF systems, or equivalent work-related experience.Experience:At least 3 years of hands on experience as an Electronics Warfare (EW) Radar Technician operating and maintaining digital and analog electronic equipment resulting in an in-depth knowledge of systems theory of operation.Graduate from an accredited two-year technical school with courses in Math, Basic Electronics, and Microwave Theory or military equivalent with emphasis on COMM or R.F. disciplines.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this Position:EW/RF radar technician experience with experience in general system theory, interfacing to test and training range infrastructure, and component-level repair of EW radar systems.Must have detailed understanding of electronics theory, network theory, and test equipment used for maintenance and repair of various equipment and data distribution systems.Possess the ability to apply knowledge to the maintenance functions of these systems.Ability to troubleshoot to the component level and make needed repairs.Ability to carry out job requirements with limited supervision.Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively in both oral and written form.Ability to perform and maintain related technical/administrative additional duties.Ability to perform physical tasks including, but not limited to, moderate lifting (45 pounds) and climbing.A basic familiarity with Windows software is required.Desired Skills:Direct experience operating or maintaining FSU threat radar systems to the component level. May require the ability to obtain a CDL License.Core Competencies:Advanced knowledge of electronic test equipment used for preventive and remedial maintenance; e.g., oscilloscope, volt-ohm meters, frequency counters and generators, logic analyzers/emulators, computers, spectrum analyzers, and waveform monitors. The ability to perform maintenance, operations and preventive maintenance as required, using the applicable test equipment. The ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly. Must demonstrate expertise and initiative in daily activities and display a professional attitude towards customers and fellow employees at all times.Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. Must possess a valid Driver’s License. Must be able to travel for the company as required.Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands:Typical environment to include working outdoors, primarily in cold/artic conditions.Work will be performed on elevated heights and in remote work areas.The position requires attending meetings with government and contract employees.Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents and performance operations and maintenance.Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness.Ability to use a computer to input and retrieve information and data.
