Job Description : REPORTS TO: Dean of Academic Affairs
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 8:30pm – 5:00pm
COMPENSATION: $85,563.88/year + DOE + Benefits, Exempt Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position requires among others, excellent customer service skills, computer proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work with multiple deadlines The Registrar works with faculty, staff and students, overseeing Admissions and Registration, advising prospective students as needed, producing reports for divisions across the institutions as well external entities, and serving on various college-wide committees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, implements, administers, monitors, and evaluates all Registrar Office functions, including procedures, processes, and systems.
Recommends and participates in the development and implementation of College policies, procedures, and compliance regarding student registration, records, class schedules, student withdrawals, scheduling, and graduation requirements.
Maintains accurate student academic records, including identifying program-active status, academic progress, verification of degree candidates, and certification of student status to authorized external agencies.
Recommends short- and long-range department goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and implements changes required for improvement.
Researches information, and develops and maintains reports for College, community, state, and federal organizations, as needed.
Maintains and upgrades the College’s academic information infrastructures, including academic records archives, online student database, and other Registrar-related databases and systems.
Reviews and updates College information documents including, but not limited to, College Course Catalog and class schedules.
Supervise, train, and evaluate Admissions Officer and Registration staff.
Supervises and implements the accurate issuing of transcripts, grade reports, class rosters, and other academic data for reports and lists as required.
Serves as College liaison with professional organizations, and external agencies on student records related matters.
Tracks status of programs, courses, and classes, and processes grades.
Processes students’ admission into the College, and presents academic data for reports and lists as needed.
Oversees compliance with FERPA regulations and dissemination of related information to students.
Responsible for the coordination of College’s annual graduation ceremony.
Works with Finance Office on annual department budget and oversees Registrar’s portion of applicable audits.
Participates on College planning and policy-making committees, as needed.
Maintains the customer service environment of the Admissions Office.
Maintains confidentiality and appropriate access to student records while ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
Upgrades professional knowledge and evaluates emerging academic technologies and trends.
Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Demonstrated professional work experience with online student information system platform, academic records and admissions software.
Demonstrated proficiency in word-processing and database software applications, and internet research.
Demonstrated professional work experience with academic records applications and computerized student information systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of rules, regulations, and laws regarding student records.
Ability to accurately analyze course pre-requisites, certification, and/or curriculum and graduation requirements.
Strong oral, written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation and ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule and travel periodically.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.

Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE [Required]:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Minimum of five years demonstrated post-secondary Admissions and Records experience directly related to the duties specified above.
Minimum of three years supervisory experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:

Master’s degree or equivalent.

Valid driver’s license.

Health Insurance – Iḷisaġvik College is self-insured and Meritain Health is the health insurance third party administrator. Iḷisaġvik College offers health insurance to our employees with a no cost premium, and $50/month for each additional dependent and a low cost annual deductible of $200 for employee only and $600 for family.

Life Insurance – Iḷisaġvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.
