Safety & Security Manager, Full Time
Opportunity Awaits on the beautiful Island of Hawaii… Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel currently has an opening for a talented Full Time Safety & Security Manager to share the aloha spirit and strive to create a memorable guest experience.
Brief Summary of Job: Manages the daily functions of the department to maintain protection of property assets, associates, owners/guests and property.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:
____ Providing services that are above and beyond for guest satisfaction and retention.
____ Utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others;
advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity;
leads by example.
____ Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
____ Assists the Director of Engineering in identifying, evaluating and controlling hazards and exposures. Ensures appropriate security and safety procedures are being followed.
____ Conduct walk-through observations of entire hotel.
____ Maintains logs, certifications and documents required by law and Standard Operating Procedures. Review all reports written by the Officers on incidents that occur on the hotel property.
____ Responsible for maintenance of all policies, procedures and quality standards within the department, utilizing a continuous improvement approach to ensure a high quality, cost effective and customer focused operation, such as incoming package policy, key policies, parking policies, emergency response of associates, and vendor/visitor/contractor policies.
____ Supervise daily functions of the department.
____ Update as needed the Hotel Emergency Response manual.
____ Maintain parking enforcement and towing service policy and procedures.
____ Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, training requirements and preventative measures.
____ Investigate accidents, thefts, property loss, and unlawful activities. Document details and advise management. Track departmental safety records and document medically treated and non-treated injuries.
____ Complete claims for guest injuries, associate injuries, property damage, and thefts/ damages to vehicles.
____ Act as hotel liaison to the Hawaii Police Department, Hawaii Fire Department and other EMS services.
____ Respond to emergency situations, including medical, security, guest complaints, etc. Assist sick and injured guests and employees, ensuring documentation and disposition of reports.
____ Maintain confidentiality with respect to guest and employee incidents.
____ Perform access control, key control, and vendor pass policy functions. Manage key system.
____ Ensure accurate records including, but not limited to, camera monitoring, shift activity log, codebook, and employee and guest binder interaction.
____ Interview, select, review, train and performance manage security officers to maintain order throughout the hotel. Train new employees according to all corporate specifications, including documentation. Assign duties and schedule staff, balancing needs of hotel and productivity standards. Monitor staff activity and coach performance.
____ Administering payroll edits, reporting and time & attendance policies.
____ Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best
overall performance of the department and hotel.
____ Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications:
Knowledge/Education/Experience: Proficient in Microsoft applications. High school or equivalent education preferred. Minimum of three (3) years security background required or equivalent in a similar field such as law enforcement or military. Previous supervisory experience required. Hotel experience highly preferred. Current CPR/AED and First Aid training certification required. Guard License is required (Act 208).
Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: English speaking or bilingual. Ability to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Ability to develop and maintain effective guest relations. Ability to direct performance of team members and follow-up with corrective action where needed. Ability to provide legible written communications. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Dependable.
