Job Description : AK Child & Family practices the Sanctuary Model which is a non-hierarchical, highly participatory, trauma-informed and evidence-supported whole culture approach, which helps the organization function in a safe, democratic and socially responsible manner and thereby provide effective treatment for clients and the community. We expect all of our employees, families and students to learn, understand and implement this model as part of their daily responsibilities and commitment to the culture of this agency.SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe Training Specialist II is a full-time 3-year position, grant funded by the state of Alaska Department of Health and Human Services requiring extensive travel throughout the state of Alaska.* The purpose of the grant is to provide residential providers agencies with effective and efficient training programs in order to ensure quality care and treatment for Alaska youth in care.The responsibilities of the Training Specialist II include, but are not limited to the following:Conducting training needs analysis and preparing and presenting reports, including the quarterly reports, year-end reports, logic models, and grant proposals (such as continuation grant proposals)Designing, developing, and implementing competency-based training using multi-media approachesFacilitating training, using the principles of adult learning, in classroom and individual coaching settings. Training topics include but are not limited to: MAB, RCYCP, GateKeeper, FASD 101/201, and MandtDeveloping evaluation and survey instruments to measure effectiveness of training and return on investmentCollaborating with various providers, state agencies and the university system to ensure training needs are identified, met, created, revised, and implemented with the support of agency/university staffThe Training Specialist II is expected to complete responsibilities independently, to seek supervisory consultation as needed, and to abide by all safety rules and regulations of the facility. The responsibilities of the Training Specialist II are carried out according to AK Child & Family policies and the mission of AK Child & Family and its philosophy of care. The Training Specialist II assumes additional duties as assigned***While this position does require travel under normal circumstances, it is currently on hold due to COVID. This aspect of the job is assessed on a continual basis, and travel will resume when it is deemed safe to do so**All positions at AK Child & Family may have responsibilities altered during the course of employment due to agency imperatives.All employees with AK Child & Family are required to be in compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid COVID vaccine mandate. The mandate requires that by 2/14/22, staff at all health care facilities must have received their first dose of a 2-shot series (Moderna or Pfizer, currently) or a single dose of a 1-shot vaccine (Johnson and Johnson, currently) with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate. Staff must complete this step before they can provide any care, treatment or other services for the facility and/or its patients.
