Job Description : Job Description
Under general direction of Transit Management, performs a full range of specialized secretarial, administrative, and operational duties in support and coordination of the transit department and paratransit program at a professional level. Acts as content administrator for Borough Transit, including social media, web content, and alert system. Requires strong knowledge and experience in marketing, advertising, or sales and graphic design.
Examples of Duties
Answer telephone and other media platforms, and assist callers with Transit information, including schedules, stop locations, ridership polices and rules, and other inquiries.
Maintain bus service alerts, website, social media, and other media platforms to keep passengers and customers informed of Transit related issues and news.
Assist with a variety office tasks such as use of a computer, typing, filing, mail handling, copying, compiling data, and other support tasks for the department. Performs general office duties, such as ordering supplies, maintaining records, management database systems, and performing spreadsheet tracking. Assist with and operate a variety of technologies.
Perform a variety of word processing functions including letters and memoranda as directed. Develop, prepare and/or review a variety of memoranda, correspondence, and other documents and material for completeness and accuracy.
Process purchase orders, invoices, and check requests for the department in accordance with established Borough policies. Maintain purchase order logs.
Maintain standards of strict confidentiality with respect to all matters and documents when required by nature of subject or by law.
Handle, account for, and report on cash value items such as daily and monthly bus passes.
Acts as content manager for Borough Transit; edits web content, uploads and categorizes documents, edits and posts visual assets and video, edits and sends email newsletters, creates and deploys surveys, provide production support for all digital marketing projects, page layout, and signage.
Assist with developing social media and marketing plan for Transit Department.
Creates content for social media and marketing purposes. Including video and print materials.
Compiles reporting and analytics; gathers and interprets data using multiple reporting tools to optimize Borough Transit and inform decisions.
Assist with collection, organization, and maintenance of information from varied sources for statistical reporting on categories such as ridership, complaints, revenue collection, and other transit related information.
Establish and maintain courteous and positive working relationships with other Borough personnel, private businesses, the general public, and other governmental agencies.
Arrange meetings, trips, and schedules. Conduct errands as requested by Transit.
Assist with ADA paratransit certification process as required by the Code of Federal Regulations, follow ADA reporting requirements. Provide monitoring and application of paratransit eligibility.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:
Provide instruction to other employees of this or a similar job classification in all aspects of procedure and technique relating to the duties required by this job description unless such instruction requires a specialized certification which the employee doing the training does not have.
Perform related other duties, as directed by transit management.

Experience with multiple social media platforms and content development.
Candidate should have a strong passion for creative advertising, film, marketing.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
Must be able to hear.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; and taste or smell.
Each of the listed activities also requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, climbing on stools and ladders, and routinely lift, pull, drag, and carry recreational equipment and boxes up to forty (40) pounds.
Using various office machines, including long periods of standing at copier, sitting in front of computer monitor, and writing by hand.
Requirements
LICENSES:
State of Alaska Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three or more years of administrative or secretarial experience needed. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Two years of experience using Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired experience includes social media content administration, video editing, and graphic design.
Any combination of related education and/or related experience will be considered if the candidate possesses the demonstrated ability.
