Providence is calling a Transport and Logistics Technician (Transport And Logistics, Variable Shift, 0.6 FTE – 24 hours per week) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Under guidance of clinical staff, responsible for independently transporting inpatients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed, to and from clinical, ancillary and support departments throughout PAMC. Transporter carries the “transport phone” to alert nursing staff of any notifications from the monitoring studio, if patient being transported is on telemetry. Ensures a “Ticket to Ride” is provided by nursing staff, prior to initiating transfer.
Communicate effectively with the RN or other caregivers regarding patient issues and equipment. Utilize the “hand off” communication tool in SBAR format. Communicate in a compassionate and professional manner with all staff, patients, families, providers, and visitors.
Report problematic and unusual circumstances in a timely and consistent manner to primary RN, as applicable.
Under direct supervision and guidance of clinical staff, responsible for assisting with complex lifts defined as total body transfers. Responsible for assisting clinical staff with turning/proning/positioning patients in the intensive care units.
Support hospital Safe Patient Handling & Mobility initiatives by practicing minimal manual lifting in daily practice. Resource for clinical staff and coworkers providing mentoring and support on Safe Patient Handling & Mobility equipment and practices. Ensure patient safety during transport and lifts by using proper equipment and safety techniques.
Respond to emergent situations in a timely manner to assist as needed. Primary respondent for all in-house codes performing chest compressions on adult and pediatric patients.
Manage workflow and respond to unit requests for services utilizing EPIC Transport & Rover system. Responsible for maintaining accuracy with the system and communicating any delays or cancellations in requests to appropriate unit staff.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Must complete BLS certification within six (6) months
Preferred qualification for this position include:
1 year in Lift Team
6 months working in health care with patient contact.
6 months CNA experience
