Explore the chance to join our team and contribute in a meaningful, rewarding, and positive work environment devoted to building a better Hawaiʻi for today and tomorrow.Primary PurposeConduct educational support by leading one-on-one and/or small group lessons.Essential Duties· Tutor students individually or in scheduled group study sessions to review principles and solve problems;· Work with students to help them understand key concepts, learned in the classroom.· Motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance using effective goal-setting strategies;· Participate in professional development activities.Other DutiesOther duties as assigned.Work Hours· Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30p.m., or as otherwise determined by the supervisor;· Position requires regular and predictable attendance;· Some events on nights or weekends at various times depending on the event.Working ConditionsProgram office and program sites; various event sites, meeting and professional development sites.Equipment UseCompany vehicle, computer, laptop, laminator, copier, shredder, fax machine, equipment, generator, speaker system, refrigerator, microwave, paper cutter.Mental, Physical and Communication DemandsMental:· Consistent adherence to the practice of PIDF’s five core values that are used as a guiding force in the success of all of its programs;· Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to focus on multiple tasks;· Be keenly aware of and attentive to program participants;· Ability to cope with stress that may be induced by the situations of our clients (students);· Patiently and compassionately guide students as they develop skills and improve their performance.Physical:· Requires lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds on a regular basis;· Must be able to sit and work on floor; kneel and bend.Communication:· Must exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;· Requires strong oral and written communication skills to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instruction and deliver feedback to participants; Must be able to maintain confidentiality.Minimum Qualification Requirements· High school diploma or GED, or competency based diploma required;· Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred;· At least one (1) year of experience in tutoring students required;· Understanding of the Hawaiian culture and values preferred;· Must have a valid driver’s license, a safe and responsible driving record.All applicants are advised that post conditional offer and/or pre-employment drug testing will be conducted, and they must successfully pass the drug test.
