ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Green River College has four locations, including the main campus in Auburn and satellite learning centers in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, high school completion students, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Green River’s service areas are increasingly diverse. This includes minoritized and marginalized communities, and the increasingly diverse populations that make up Green River’s community.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (VPEDI) is responsible for developing and executing the strategy to cultivate the organizational capacity for equity, diversity, inclusion, respect and belonging. In collaboration across the college community inclusive of leaders, faculty, students, staff and campus organizations, the VPEDI implements the strategic vision for institutional thriving in the area of EDI. The VPEDI will have oversight of creating policies, overseeing programming and fostering an inclusive campus atmosphere involving all community members with a focus centered on anti-racism and combatting anti-blackness. This will be accomplished in partnership with various campus constituents to cultivate and strengthen an inclusive and equitable campus environment. The position acts as a resource for all GRC sites.
Position Responsibilities
Develops and implements equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives at GRC with a focus centered on anti-racism and combatting anti-blackness.
Creates and drives equitable student retention, outcomes, and success.
Creates, develops and guides the implementation of policies and procedures that are measurable and effective to establish an internal culture of accountability across all facets of the college.
Cultivates relationships with community partners and stakeholders who are from diverse, marginalized, and underserved populations.
Ability to initiate and direct institutional change in creating a more diverse curriculum, embracing an inclusive faculty, staff, and student population, and ensuring a more equitable learning and work environment.
Creates, develops, and implements sustainable accountability measures focused on EDI efforts throughout the college community with ongoing evaluation and adaptive improvements.
As a member of the Executive Team, identifies shared responsibility for ongoing improvements in EDI recruiting, hiring, onboarding, orientation, retention, and professional development practices that foster a culture of belonging.
Provides relevant and current mentoring, training, and coaching to assist academic leadership, faculty, and staff with building equity, diversity, and inclusion into GRC curriculum.
In collaboration across all campus Divisions and Departments, identifies and develops operating standards, practices, and professional development with a focus on anti-racism and combatting anti-blackness.
Understands the specific experiences of historically marginalized racial groups in the U.S., particularly Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, groups.
Identifies and advises on equitable marketing and recruiting strategies and programs that focuses on the recruitment of students from diverse populations.
Stays current on relevant practices as they relate to equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and respect.
Recommends individuals to appropriate complaint or grievance process to address specific issues or incidents.
Other duties as assigned by the president.
Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher, or equivalent experience.
Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in equity, diversity, and inclusion, advocating for and implementing change within a multicultural environment.
A thorough understanding of intersectionality and issues as they relate to equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, multiculturalism, anti-racism and social justice.
An understanding of the elements and dynamics of organizational change.
Success at initiating and engaging in difficult conversations.
Demonstrated ability to provide collaborative, transformational leadership.
An ability to influence, delegate and gain consensus with individuals and groups.
Highly skilled written and oral communications including the ability to provide presentations, successful trainings and written communications.
Demonstrated success in developing and facilitating educational and training programs for diverse populations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
An understanding of the culture of higher education and the shared governance.
