Job Description : Domestic Violence Action Center is seeking an Advocate. We offer excellent benefits. We honor 13 paid holidays, provide sick leave, your birthday off, 401K options with Mutual of America, Flex Spending, and after 3 months of service your begin to earn paid leave, wellness days and life insurance through All State.Please submit a cover letter, resume and a list of 3 referencesMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in social work or related field and (3) years’ experience working with people who have experienced trauma, and endeavoring to overcome barriers, change life patterns, and improve living circumstances. The ability to work with people in crisis, and a command of problem solving and communication skills (both written and oral). Working independently, the capacity to work under pressure and multi-task is crucial. Possess understanding of cultural factors as an influence of behavior and ability to mentor compassionate strength.ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain a safe setting that is conducive to individual participation, healing and learningPresent educational and trauma-informed materials that contribute to group discussions relating to domestic violenceProvide knowledge, skills and tools for participants to use in order to help them remain safe and move toward healing from past domestic violence.Provide support of culturally long term advocacy, as needed up to 30 casesProvide crisis support and counseling, safety planning and accompaniments to court and community appointments with survivors referred by DVAC program or community allies.Advocate will document and keep accurate case summary notes and case files on each clientAdvocate will cover a minimum of 1 shift per week on Helpline.Must attend four (4) relevant training per year pertaining to job functions.Will assume duties as assigned to meet program and agency objectives.Reports directly to the O’hana program Manager.Job Type: Full-timePay: $41,500.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayWork Location: One location
