Job Description : Position: Victim Services Family AdvocateStatus: Full TimeCompensation: $20 /hrCenter for Pan Asian Community Services, Inc. (CPACS) is a private nonprofit located in Atlanta, Georgia. Our mission is to promote self-sufficiency and equity for immigrants, refugees, and the underprivileged through comprehensive health and social services, capacity building, and advocacy. Founded on the belief that “people need people,” CPACS is the first, largest, and oldest organization in the Southeast to focus on issues and concerns of Asian Americans, especially women, children, and families with low incomes.The Child Advocate is responsible for providing support, information, advocacy, and court accompaniment to child victims of domestic violence. This will include providing assistance navigating the legal system, social services, and medical services. The Child Advocate is responsible for assisting domestic violence clients and conducting outreach into the Asian community. She/he/they will report to the Executive Director and Project Director. The Child Advocate will be professional, courteous while upholding trauma informed approach when interacting with survivors.Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:· Case Management: Working alongside case managers and other team members. Maintaining accurate case notes, and other necessary documentation. Speak to clients and perform an initial intake (assessment process) over the phone or face-to-face. Assist clients with safety planning, identifying options, and problem solving. Provide up-to-date information and internal and external referrals regarding community resources. Interpretation of needed service procedures—social, law enforcement, health care, and court services.· Child Advocacy – Provide client-centered advocacy to meet each client’s specific needs. Assist clients in navigating DFCS and other social services. Assist clients with education related issues includes application assistance. Connect clients to necessary medical and mental health services. Assist survivors with withdrawing and enrolling their children into school. Lead implementation of parenting classes for survivors. Create and facilitate activities for children and teens at the shelter.· Crisis counseling- provide survivors with crisis counseling. Provide translation and interpretation for crisis calls.· Personal advocacy: assist survivors in obtaining shelter, provide support throughout the clients’ stay at the shelter, accompany client to courts for issuance of temporary protective orders, assist client in seeking safe housing beyond shelter, and crisis intervention· Providing community education and actively participating in community meetings.· Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community partners.Preferred Qualifications:· At least 2 years of experience or interest in working in the domestic violence field or working with children· Willing to learn the processes and procedures of trauma-informed care· Diverse populations- ability to work with survivors or domestic violence, survivors with histories of homelessness, poverty, and trauma. Demonstrated ability and experience serving AAPI and immigrant/refugee/asylee communities and related victim services issues and solutions· Compliance-demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain client confidentiality and correctly enter and monitor units of service towards deliverables. Ability to maintain files in compliance with grant standards and professional standards.
