The City of Big Bear Lake is nestled in the stunning San Bernardino Mountains. Big Bear Lake is defined by its rustic traditions, rich history, and pristine views. The City also boasts an exceptional school system, and active service groups and churches.
The City of Big Bear Lake, Department of Water and Power (DWP) is actively recruiting to fill a single full-time vacancy within the accounting department. Candidates within a broad range of accounting backgrounds, from the journey-level Accounting Specialists I/II to Accountants I/II to professional advanced journey-level Senior Accountants, are encouraged to apply. Job offers and salary placement will be based on experience and knowledge.
Responsibilities may range from a variety of routine to moderate technical accounting support and administrative duties in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of accounting and financial records; functional areas of responsibility can include, data input, cash balancing, customer service, inventory, payroll, general accounting, account reconciliation, and month end to more complex duties such as accounting for capital assets, federal single audit reporting, preparation of payroll, project and grant accounting, data compilation and analysis, financial and budgetary analysis and reporting, and other accounting related activates for DWP funds, as well as accounting for activities of the Bear Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency. A qualified and selected candidate must be capable to competently handle the full range of professional financial analysis duties as assigned, work independently and as a team member and leader, and apply well developed financial knowledge functions of routine, moderate and superior complexity.

Education
Accounting Specialists I/II – Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by specialized training in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field.
Accountant I/II – Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field.
Senior Accountant – Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field.
Experience
Accounting Specialist I – Three (3) years of specialized accounting, clerical, and administrative/business experience.
Accounting Specialist II – Twenty-two (22) months of progressively responsible experience equivalent to an Accounting Specialist I with the DWP or similar water utility agency.
Accountant I – Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or performing professional financial analysis in a comprehensive financial management program.
Accountant II – Twenty-two (22) months of progressively responsible experience equivalent to an Accountant I with the DWP or similar water utility agency.
Senior Accountant – Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public sector accounting or performing professional financial analysis in a comprehensive financial management program.
Compensation
Salary Range: $60,227.98 – $106,026.27 annually
